The conversation is not as much about what the common core is, but if teachers and schools have the materials ready to teach to it.    The concerns are the text books that schools already have, may have already bought, or have yet to source – do they align with the Common Core standards set forth for the upcoming 2014/2015 school year.  In many cases they do not.   Teachers and Administrator are using what they have (or don’t have) to ensure that they are going to meet the challenge come this time next year when testing will be administered.     More of how teachers and administrators are rising to that challenge, can be read here…
